The Stress-Free Way to Study

By Ava Kesler

We can all make detailed study plans with time slots and pacing guides, and this is definitely effective. But the fact is this is a really stressful way to study when you've got your test coming up soon.

In the case of AP exams, we are getting closer and closer to the point where we should simply be looking at studying on an individual basis.

Don't study to say you studied 5 hours today. Study because you want to learn the material, and study until you feel like you have learned it.

I find that doing some practice problems until I feel fulfilled is much more effective than doing them until, say, 2 hours later.

The other major reason why studying is so much more stressful than it has to be is because of phones. Now I don't mean to sound like a boomer here, but honestly just having my phone next to me physically makes me upset to study.

There's still a lot we don't really know about phone and social media's impacts on us today, and honestly the simple case is that phones are distractions, and when you study, you need to get rid of distractions.

Just put the phone in a drawer or another room. It can wait.
